County Demonstration Project
Chapter 58 of the Laws of 2005 authorized the creation of the County Demonstration Project. It was created to further New York State's efforts to combat fraud and abuse in the Medicaid program by allowing authorized local districts to act as agents of the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG), thus assisting OMIG in assessing provider Medicaid program integrity.
Counties across New York and New York City are actively engaged in conducting reviews.
During FFY 2015-16, OMIG anticipates the following activities to improve the County Demonstration program:
- Continue efforts to recruit additional county-level partners
- Collaborate with counties to create and expand on innovative ideas and concepts on combating fraud, waste, and abuse.
